Main Applications
Blowing Agent (Primary Use): As an environmentally friendly physical blowing agent for manufacturing polyurethane (PU) rigid foams, widely used in insulation layers for refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated trucks, construction panels, etc.
Chemical Solvent: Used as a solvent for dissolving resins, rubbers, waxes, and in organic synthesis reactions.
Chemical Intermediate: Used in the production of chemicals such as chlorocyclopentane, cyclopentanol, and cyclopentanone.
Fuel Additive: Can be used as a blending component in gasoline to improve octane rating.
Laboratory Applications: Used as a solvent for chromatographic analysis and as a chemical reagent.
Safety Precautions
Health Hazards:
· Depresses the central nervous system. Inhalation of high concentrations can cause dizziness, headache, nausea, and even loss of consciousness.
· Slight irritation to eyes and respiratory tract.
· Skin contact may cause dryness and dermatitis.
· Rapid evaporation of the liquid may cause frostbite.Handling Protection:
· Must be handled in an explosion-proof fume hood or in a well-ventilated area.
· Must wear chemical safety goggles, impermeable gloves, and anti-static clothing.
· Must use explosion-proof tools and equipment.
· Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
· Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling.Storage & Transportation:
· Store in a cool, well-ventilated, explosion-proof dedicated area, temperature should not exceed 30°C.
· Keep containers tightly closed and away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces.
· Use explosion-proof electrical and anti-static equipment. Containers must be properly grounded.
· Store separately from strong oxidizers (e.g., oxygen, peroxides).
· Store under an inert atmosphere (e.g., nitrogen) if possible.Fire Fighting:
· EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. Flash point -37°C. Highly flammable and explosive.
· Vapor is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition is possible.
· Explosive limits: 1.5% - 8.7% (by volume in air).
· Use foam, dry chemical, or CO2 to extinguish fire. Water is ineffective but can be used to cool exposed containers.
· Firefighters must wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective gear.
