L-Valine

1. Skin and Eye Contact (Emergency Response)

L-Valine dissolves in water to form a slightly acidic or neutral solution; rinsing with plenty of water is sufficient to remove it.

Eye Contact: Immediately open eyelids and flush continuously with lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes. Pay special attention to cleaning the corneal crypts by everting the eyeball. If a foreign body sensation persists after rinsing, seek medical attention.

Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If redness and swelling occur, it may be due to an allergic reaction or mechanical friction injury; apply a moisturizing ointment and rest.

2. Large Spill Handling (Focus on Containment Prevention)

Dry Sweeping: Never use a broom to dry sweep, as this will raise dust and create an explosive atmosphere.

Specialized Tools: Use an explosion-proof industrial vacuum cleaner (equipped with a HEPA filter) to remove the spilled material.

Water-based treatment (small leaks only): Small leaks can dissolve in large quantities of water and be discharged into wastewater treatment systems (note that COD load must meet discharge standards); large leaks must be contained by dikes to prevent them from entering surface water (as their high solubility can cause a rapid spike in COD).

3. Firefighting Guidelines

Extinguishing agents: Powdered material fires are best extinguished with water mist (it cools and reduces dust). ABC dry powder or sodium bicarbonate dry powder can also be used.

Combustion hazards: Thermal decomposition produces toxic fumes of carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Firefighters must wear SCBA (Self-Controlled Fire Protection Equipment).
