- Solubility: Highly soluble in water (30.5 g/100 mL at 20 °C; 54.6 g/100 mL at 60 °C), soluble in glycerol and ethanol, slightly soluble in ether, insoluble in acetone

- Stability: Chemically stable under normal temperature and pressure; slightly hygroscopic, absorbing a small amount of moisture from air (weaker than anhydrous magnesium sulfate); incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, alkaline substances, and ethoxyacetylene alcohols (may cause explosion when heated together); avoid long-term exposure to humid air to prevent caking
