  • Water solubility: Extremely poorly soluble in water; solubility is approximately 0.0001 g/100 mL (at 20°C) or 20 mg/L (at 20°C)

  • log Pow (octanol/water partition coefficient): 4.11, indicating high lipophilicity (readily soluble in fats/oils)

  • Solubility: Exhibits good compatibility with various resins (such as cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, and polyvinyl acetate)

  • Chemical stability: DIBP is combustible; it may release irritating fumes when decomposed by heat and can react with strong oxidizing agents. It should be stored away from sources of ignition and strong oxidizing agents.

Main Applications

  • Used as primary plasticizer for flexible PVC, nitrocellulose, vinyl resins, nitrile rubber, chloroprene rubber. Improves flexibility and low-temperature performance.

  • Plasticizer & flow modifier for lacquers, NC coatings, printing inks, sealants and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

  • Additive for foundry resin, concrete additives, fuel stabilizer. Not suitable for agricultural film, toxic to crops.

Safety Precautions

- PPE: Safety goggles, nitrile/butyl gloves, protective clothing; respirator for spraying/heating. No food, drink or smoking at work.

- Handling: Away from heat, flame and oxidants. Ventilate well. Prevent leaks to water/soil. Childbearing & pregnant staff avoid exposure.

- Storage: Cool, dry, ventilated, sealed. Separate from oxidizers and acids. Ground drums to prevent static.

- Fire: Combustible, toxic smoke. Use water spray, foam, dry powder or CO₂.

- Spill: Contain, collect liquid, absorb with sand. Keep out of drains. Dispose as hazardous waste.

- First aid: Fresh air for inhalation; rinse skin/eyes thoroughly; do NOT induce vomiting if swallowed.
