- Stability: Stable at ambient conditions; incompatible with strong oxidizers, acids, bases, reducers; avoid moist air/water.
- Reactivity: Undergoes carbamate formation, hydroxyalkylation, transesterification; used to clean isocyanates/polyesters.
- Low toxicity, high boiling point, low volatility: Ideal for CO2 extraction, textiles, polymers (aligns with "green solvent" searches).

Main Applications
1. Lithium-ion Batteries and Electrochemistry:
Propylene carbonate is a key electrolyte solvent in lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and supercapacitors. It significantly improves ionic conductivity and thermal stability, extends battery cycle life, enhances safety, and is suitable for high-voltage battery systems.
2. Environmentally Friendly Industrial Solvent:
As a low-VOC, environmentally friendly solvent, it can replace traditional harmful solvents such as dichloromethane and toluene. It has strong dissolving power for resins, polymers, oils, and greases, with low odor and low toxicity, making operation safer and complying with global environmental regulations.
3. Industrial Cleaning and Degreasing Agent:
Widely used in industrial cleaning, precision cleaning, and electronic cleaning, it effectively removes oil, grease, resin, and ink. It is suitable for carburetor cleaning, SLA component cleaning, and PCB cleaning, and is also an ideal paint stripper and resin cleaner.
4. Coatings, Inks, and Pigment Dispersants:
Propylene carbonate can optimize the formulation performance of coatings, inks, and pigments, improve system fluidity, leveling, and drying speed, and improve pigment dispersibility and color stability. It is commonly used in automotive coatings, industrial coatings, and printing inks. 5. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Used as a solvent, plasticizer, and stabilizer in cosmetics, including lipsticks, eyeshadows, mascaras, and skincare products, improving texture, spreadability, and absorption of active ingredients. It is gentle on the skin and non-greasy.
6. Gas Purification and CO₂ Capture:
As a highly efficient acidic gas absorbent, it removes CO₂ and H₂S from natural gas, used in the purification of syngas, ammonia, and petroleum gas, contributing to carbon capture and green energy projects.
7. Plastics, Polymers, and Plasticizers:
Used as a polymer plasticizer and processing aid, improving the flexibility and durability of plastic products. It is applied in adhesives, sealants, synthetic fibers, and can also be used as a curing accelerator for phenolic resins.
