As a key precursor for solid-state battery electrolytes (e.g., PEC), EC supports EVs and renewable energy storage. Research uses fluorinated cosolvents to address its high melting point and improve low-temperature performance.
2. Chemical Synthesis & Green Intermediates
As a vital green intermediate, EC mainly produces DMC via transesterification—an eco-friendly alternative to phosgene, compliant with EU 2025 regulations. DMC is widely used in pharmaceuticals, coatings, and fuel additives.
