Basic Properties
Physical Properties:
· Appearance: White to slightly yellow crystals or granules, deliquescent.
· Melting Point: 271°C (decomposes).
· Density: 2.17 g/cm³.
· Solubility: Readily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether.
· Aqueous Solution: Alkaline.Chemical Properties:
· Acts as both oxidizing and reducing agent, exhibiting dual chemical properties.
· Reacts with acids to produce brown nitrogen dioxide gas.
· May form explosive compounds when reacting with ammonium salts.
· Slowly oxidizes to sodium nitrate in air.
Main Applications
Food Industry: Used as preservative and color fixative in meat products (strictly limited usage).
Metal Treatment: Serves as metal corrosion inhibitor to prevent metal corrosion.
Dye Industry: Used as diazotizing agent in dye manufacturing.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Used as drug intermediate, e.g., in producing vasodilators.
Construction Industry: Used as concrete additive to prevent rebar corrosion.

· Avoid dust formation, prevent inhalation and skin contact.
· Ensure adequate local exhaust and general ventilation.
· Do not eat, drink, or smoke in work areas.Storage & Transportation:
· Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated dedicated area.
· Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent deliquescence.
· Store separately from acids, ammonium salts, reducing agents, combustibles, and foodstuffs.
· Protect from rain, moisture, and package damage during transportation.Emergency Treatment:
· Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of running water.
· Eye contact: Lift eyelids and rinse with running water or physiological saline.
· Inhalation: Move to fresh air immediately and keep airway clear.
· Ingestion: Drink plenty of warm water, induce vomiting, seek immediate medical attention.
