Phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) is a colorless, transparent solid crystal at room temperature, with a melting point of 42 °C. When the temperature exceeds the melting point, it becomes a colorless, transparent viscous liquid. In industry and laboratories, phosphoric acid is commonly available as an 85% aqueous solution, which is a colorless, tasteless, non-volatile viscous liquid and an important chemical reagent. As a moderately strong ternary acid, phosphoric acid can gradually release three protons, forming three different protonation forms: H₂PO₄⁻, HPO₄²⁻, and PO₄³⁻. This property gives it significant versatility in chemical reactions.
